A luxury automobile, which had been stolen in Germany some days ago, was seized by Lithuanian border guards not far from the Lithuanian - Polish border. That was the third automobile seized by border guards of the Lazdijai Frontier District during the latter two weeks.
On Wednesday, the officers of the Ladijai Frontier District of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) received information from Polish colleagues that two suspicious automobiles – Volkswagen Pasat and BMW models – were moving towards the territory of Lithuania.
Two border guard patrol groups of the Kalvarijos Frontier Station started the search of the mentioned vehicles.
Before long, an automobile BMW 740i with a German licence plate was detected parked in Sangrūda village of the Kalvarijos municipality, which is at a three-kilometre distance from the border with Poland. There were no people present at the parked automobile.
The border guards observed marks of a broken car lock. It was established that the spotted automobile of 2008 make had been stolen in Germany and was being searched for by the law enforcement officers of that country.
Shortly, on the road Sangrūda - Mergutrakis of Kalvarijos municipality border guards detained automobile Volkswagen Pasat , which was moving in the direction of the left BMW automobile. It was established that two persons, residents of the Kaunas and Marijampole counties, were travelling by that car.
Under suspicion that those persons were going to pick up the stolen BMW automobile they were detained and taken into custody for two days.
On the grounds of acquisition of property obtained in criminal manner, officers of the Lazdijai Frontier District started a pre-trial investigation. Both of the seized cars are being kept at the Kalvarijos Frontier Station.
During the latter two weeks, that was the third luxury automobile stolen in Germany and seized by officers of the Lazdijai Frontier District controlling the Lithuanian-Polish border. Last week border guards of the frontier district seized an automobile Audi A6 of 2009 make, and, after some pursue, BMW X5 of 2008 make. |
