Documents mandatory for crossing the State border

FOR NATIONALS OF THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, ICELAND, NORWAY, SWITZERLAND, AND LIECHTENSTEIN

FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS AND STATELESS PERSONS (NATIONALS OF NON-EUROPEAN UNION STATES)

1. A valid travel document (passport or personal identification card);

2. A driver's licence giving the right to drive a corresponding vehicle;

3. Documents for the carried freight;

4. Vehicle registration documents;

5. Documents proving registration or acquisition of motor vehicles carried across the state border as commodity not under their own power;

6. Registration documents for the vehicle with a mark on terminated registration and a valid transit licence plate;

7. Vehicle technical inspection coupon or sticker, or other documents proving a positive result of an inspection and assessment of vehicle technical condition;

8. Distinctive marks (stickers) of the vehicle registration country if the vehicle licence plate bears no symbols identifying the vehicle registration country.

1. A valid travel document (passport or personal identification card);

5. Documents or a mark proving insurance of driver's civil liability;

6. Documents proving registration or acquisition of motor vehicles carried across the state border as commodity not under their own power;

7. Registration documents for the vehicle with a mark on terminated registration and a valid transit licence plate;

8. Vehicle technical inspection coupon or sticker, or other documents proving a positive result of an inspection and assessment of vehicle technical condition;

9. Distinctive marks (stickers) of the vehicle registration country if the vehicle licence plate bears no symbols identifying the vehicle registration country.

Also the following:

1) A visa (if appropriate);

2) Documents proving the purpose, manner, duration, conditions, and period of a travel (permits of temporary or permanent residence in Lithuania; accreditation papers issued by Lithuanian authorities; an identity document of an employee of an international organisation; invitation to an event (exhibition, business conference, and the similar); travel tickets (e. g., for a transit or return travel); a lodging pass of a medical or recreational facility, and the similar).

CONSEQUENCES OF A FAILURE TO PRESENT THE MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

According to the administrative procedures, a record of violation is made, and the materials are submitted to the authority competent to adopt a relevant decision (the minimum punishment entailed is oral warning).

Entry will be refused upon a failure to present the mandatory documents.
