There are the following types of visas:
Airport transit visa (A);
Transit visa (B);
Short-term visa (C);
Long-term visa (D).
Single-entry, double-entry or multiple-entry visas may be issued.
Persons with diplomatic or official passports may be issued A, B, C or D type of visas, taking into account the privileges of the acceptance of documents and the issue of visas which have been previously applied to these categories of persons.
Airport transit visa (A) is issued for transiting an international airport of the Republic of Lithuania and it may be single- or double-entry. A single-entry airport transit visa entitles a foreigner to a single stay in the transit area of an international airport of the Republic of Lithuania. A double-entry airport transit visa entitles a foreigner to stay in the transit area of an international airport in the Republic of Lithuania twice
Transit visa (B) is issued for transiting across the territory of the Republic of Lithuania and it may be single-, double- or multiple-entry. A single-entry transit visa entitles a foreigner to travel across the territory of the Republic of Lithuania once (forwards). A double-entry transit visa entitles a foreigner to cross the territory of the Republic of Lithuania twice (forwards and backwards). A multiple-entry transit visa entitles a foreigner to travel across the territory of the Republic of Lithuania several times during the period of visa’s validity. A foreigner with a transit visa may stay in the Republic of Lithuania for no more than 5 days during each stay.
Short-term visa (C) entitles a foreigner to enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in the country for up to 3 months within half a year from the date of the first entry into the Republic of Lithuania. A short-term visa may be issued for a single or a multiple entry. A single entry short-term visa may be issued to a foreigner for a single visit to the Republic of Lithuania during the period of validity of the visa. A multiple entry short-term visa may be issued to a foreigner for the period of one year or, in exceptional cases, for the period longer than one year but not longer than 5 years. A short-term visa is issued when a foreigner intends to enter the Republic of Lithuania for the purposes of tourism, visiting relatives or other persons, professional interest or other short-term stay.
Long-term visa (D) entitles a foreigner to enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in the country for longer than 3 months. A long-term visa may be issued for a single or a multiple entry. A single-entry long-term visa is issued to a foreigner who is permitted to temporarily or permanently reside in the Republic of Lithuania. A multiple-entry long-term visa is issued to a foreigner who enters the Republic of Lithuania with an intention to stay in the Republic of Lithuania for a long time. Multiple-entry long-term visas are issued to foreigners who regularly come to the Republic of Lithuania for working or other lawful activities but whose main place of residence is in a foreign country.
Group visas shall be issued to a group of foreign citizens consisting of 5-30 members on the condition that a guide shall be appointed to the group and the group shall have the same purpose of visit, follow the same travel route, arrive at the same place and time, stay at the same location and depart at the same time.
